This is hilarious - if you like me has been watching the guilty pleasure that is "Newlyweds - Nick & Jessica" on MTV.
Check this out:
Nick And Jessica

I saw The Strokes last night - they played to a packed house in the Theatre at Madison Square Garden - it was a pretty good show - not exactly mind-blowing though...sorry guys. Julian needs to step it up a notch as the lead guy. The other guys are killer live players but Julian seems to be missing some magic in my humble opnion.

I got to go to backstage and to the after-party - thanks to Shirley, Steven and Michelle...both Fab and Albert remembered me and I chatted with both for a moment. No sign of Fab's lady Drew Barrymore but I spotted Nick's girlfriend Amanda D who used to go out with the one and only John Taylor...also Ben Kweller was hanging with the Kings of Leon dudes at the after-party at Tobacco Road.

It was so smokey in the backroom that I had to leave. I guess I can't take too much cigarette smoke anymore since they banned it in bars...I guess that's a good thing.

OK so I promised a CMJ update - here at least is a list of the bands I caught...

The Killers
Wheat
Ulysees (dude from Apples in Stereo)
Starlight Mints
The Exit
Walter Schreifels & The Motorcycles
The Capitol Years
The Sounds
Earlimart
Broken Social Scene
Robbers On High Street
Patrick Park
Hominid
Vietnam
The Stills (best show I've seen them do so far and the
album is great!)
Echo & The Bunnymen
Singapore Sling
The Fever

My friend Beth met the actor Ed Norton at a show at FEZ - lucky gal!!!!

The Stills were awesome on Saturday night - they played as part of CMJ and opened for Echo & The Bunnymen.

They were also supposed to play a Vice/Etnies after party in a loft at Bowery & Broome but the cops shut down the party before they played. The boys were super tired anyway and they were happy not to play. The Fever did play and there was lots of free Rec Stripe beer. Thanks for Oliver from The Stills for getting me, Jen and Erik in lickety-split despite a huge line of people wanting to get in.
Happy birthday today to my awesome pal Tim Husom!

Sorry for no updates lately. I've been a busy gal.

So I found someone to sub let my place - yahoo! It's a business woman from Toronto who will be coming to New York on a regular basis. So glad I could help out a fellow Canadian with some lodging in the big city.

I've moved into my new apartment in the Lower East Side. I love it!! The pad is cute and the neighborhood rules! I just have to get used to having a roomie!

CMJ started this week - I'll have an update soon on all the activities.

The Stills new album was released on Tuesday. It's great! It's called Logic Will Break Your Heart. There is a 4 out of 5 star review in the current issue of Rolling Stone (the one with the Strokes on the cover)! I bought a copy at Tower so they would get the soundscan sale. I hope it does well. They even thanked little ol' me in the liner notes. I'm touched! Check out their website for more info.

Hear the whole album here.

They had a little special acoustic performance at the Vice store on Tuesday night. I got there in time to see 2 songs. And they're opening for Echo & The Bunnymen tour. Including a show this Sat night for CMJ.

more tomorrow!

cheers.

The new Strokes video for "12:51" is done!!

Eddie Izzard was hilarious on Friday night! I also got to go backstage and meet him. That was a thrill. He's so talented, funny and looks good in make-up, mini skirt and heels.

Saturday night was IM A Robot/French Kicks and HOT HOT HEAT! IM A Robot were cool - it features Joey Waronker and Justin Meldal-Johnson - the rhythm section from Beck's band.
HHH rocked the house! Killer live show from one of my fave Canadian bands.

Yesterday was quite the day at my office! Somedays I do love my job - all of Duran Duran came in for a meeting in the the KOCH conference room.

But the sad news is that I only walked past Simon and Nick at different times in the hall. I did not get a glimpse of John Taylor!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They wouldn't do a tour of the office to meet us. Don't they know that there are big fans here? I have never seen such a buzz when it happened. It was funny!

We'll see if we get to sign them. Other labels are trying too.

At least I got a free left-over yummy gourmet sandwich from the catered lunch.

Tonight I'm going to see Eddie Izzard do his live stand-up comedy with his new show called "Sexie". Can't wait!!

This past weekend was ALL ABOUT the rock!

Friday night was fun. Super Furry Animals were awesome! I love those guys. They even came out in the golden retriever outifts that they were in the videos.

Check out it out here if you haven't seen the video yet

Saturday night was Sparklehorse and R.E.M. at Madison Square Garden. I only got to see about 3 songs by Sparklehorse by the time I got to my seat (20th row on the floor - not too shabby!). R.E.M. were excellent - playing new and old tunes. The stage looked super cool with shiny backdrops and cool lights. Sitting in the row behind me was the actress Mary Louise Parker

My friend Ken Stringfellow (Posies, Saltine) plays with the band so I was able to go to the swanky after-party at the Maritime Hotel. Here's who I spotted at the Matsui Restaurant (10/4): Al Franken, Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Macaulay Culkin and Michael Patrick King (Sex & The City) and of course, all 3 members of R.E.M.
Fun, fun, fun!

Then on Sunday night I went to see the one and only electroclash queen Peaches at the Bowery Ballroom! She was awesome. Bjork was there too!

cheers,

It's Friday - hurrah!! This weekend will be all about rock 'n' roll. Tonight I'm going to see Super Furry Animals with Grandaddy and tomorrow night is Sparklehorse and R.E.M.!

And I'll be packing this weekend to move into my new apartment on Sunday/Monday. Wish me luck!

Oh poor Courtney Love is in trouble again - doing drugs and breaking windows of her ex's place.
