Good on Drew!

from Page Six:

"Most actors don't ask to be thought of as public role models. But they are sometimes fashioned as such in the mind of the fans and the media. Drew Barrymore, an actress since the age of 5, has never indicated she had life's answers — in fact she often presented herself as a cautionary tale. But I'd say Drew is a role model of the best kind.

When Drew found out that a 23-year-old girl was about to have plastic surgery to look like her, for MTV's loathsome "I Want a Famous Face" show, the actress tracked down the young woman's phone number. Drew begged her to reconsider: "You are beautiful just as you are, as yourself."

Life & Style magazine reports that Drew was so convincing, so earnest in her plea to save this girl from unnecessary surgery, that the potential patient relented and cancelled her Drew-like transformation. Drew Barrymore — child actress, adult star, rehab survivor, producer, role model."

Foo Fighters break it down

This interview is awesome. Click on the link above to go to the XFM web page where Dave and Taylor talk about each and every song on their new album. There's a killer quote by Dave about how lucky he is to play music and to have collaborated with the people he has worked with like Josh Homme, Trent Reznor, Kurt Cobain, etc. It's in the "Last Song" clip - the 6th one down. Rock on!

If you like ROCK music then please...

...RUN out and buy the new Foo Fighters album "In Your Honor" this week. It's a killer album! Two discs for the price of one. One loud. One not so loud. And the dreaded Backstreet Boys might beat the Foos to the #1 album position if we don't buy enough Foos CDs. And we can't let that happen to my beloved Mr. Grohl and his bandmates. Can we? I didn't think so. I got to see them perform live at MTV last week (photos coming) and it kicked my ass!!

Dave Grohl continues to be my hero!

Check out this quote:

The idea, (about the upcoming double disc) Grohl says, was to span the musical range of the band -- which also includes Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett -- by showing the extremes of its sound.

The two-disc set is priced at $19.98, $1 more than the standard list price for a single-disc release.

"I remember having the pricing discussion with my lawyer and her explaining to me that you don't get paid the same amount for each song that you would if you released them separately, but the whole idea was to display the contrast" between the two albums, Grohl says. "I thought they'd complement each other in one package, and I don't need any more money. I'm fine, thanks."
