Alterna-rockers unite for charity - this is funny!

On October 11, those crazy kids at Vice Records will release a benefit single called "Do They Know It's Hallowe'en?" The song is a spoof of the classic "Do They Know It's Christmas" and is actually more of a social commentary stemming from frustration with the misguided, somewhat patronizing attitude and Western-centric world-view of other recent musical benefits (Live 8, are your ears burning?). The single features a star-studded line-up of musical talent who have opted to go by the name, the North American Halloween Prevention Initiative. The band itself features musician and New York Times journalist Adam Gollner on guitar, Nick Diamonds (Islands, ex-Unicorns) on keys, Redd Kross' Steven Mcdonald on bass, Anna Woronker is the choral leader and her brother wonder kid Joey Waronker on drums. The vocals are provided by, well... lets make it easy on both of us. Just take a look at the list below. It's fair to say that these vocalists represent a who's who of the current alternative/indie rock world. As well there are a few strange folks in there too - ELvira, Nardwaar The Human Serviette, Malcolm MacLaren and more!
